Biography of Dr. Cohen
Sheldon B. Cohen, MD, is a psychiatrist with a private practice in Atlanta since 1959. Dr. Cohen is certified in general and forensic psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He earned his MD at Medical College of Georgia and completed professional training at Charity Hospital (New Orleans), Topeka (Kansas) State Hospital, and Tulane University School of Medicine. He has served on the teaching staff of Tulane University School of Medicine and Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Cohen is an active member and past board member of numerous professional medical societies, including the American Psychiatric Association and American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is a past editor of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis and MedCom and the author of many journal articles. He presents at professional conferences and serves as a consultant to hospitals and health associations, including the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Cohen is co-founder and co-chair of the Atlanta Coalition against Tobacco, a not-for-profit organization in the process of raising half a million dollars to help tobacco addicts.
